May 2012 saw the first sitting of a new mediumship development circle in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

We sit in Liz's fully blacked-out converted garage. I sit as the medium with Liz as sitter and we are sometimes joined by other guest sitters.

We treat each sitting as an experiment with no expectations from us and ask our Spirit Team to work with us in the most efficient way to produce evidential mediumship to help us understand ourselves and the bigger picture.

Each sitting is recorded, I transcribe the recording verbatim and include in the final report of the transcript any additional unrecorded experiences that Liz and myself remembered from the sitting.

I publish these reports to give people the opportunity to read or listen to the communications and hopefully increase their own understandings.

171st Sitting 05/02/2016


We had the room setup as usual.
Liz did the opening prayer at 8.35pm, turned out the light and put the music on.

After five minutes Liz reported feeling presences in the room.
She saw moving shapes and noticed the room became a pale green colour.

Liz felt a juddering effect.

I lost consciousness just after the opening prayer and woke up about 20 minutes later.
After another ten minutes I started to be controlled.

Liz turned off the music and welcomed the communication as it settled in…

‘Good evening, good evening’

Liz… ‘Good evening to you’

‘Step outside of your familiar routine and observe the way that you can receive the inspirations that come to you. Step outside of what you feel you need to keep hold of, what you feel comfortable with. Step outside of this comfort zone and you will recognise the fragile connection that you have with your physical world. You will recognise that only one small part of that what you call yourself is truly engaged with physical reality for there is much more, there is a greater part of yourself waiting to be recognised, waiting to be set in motion, set free, given the chance to work for itself, work in its own way, creating and modifying all that it perceives. Step beyond the familiar and your creating powers will be enhanced. You are like a small dot on a page of writing. You all concentrate on that one dot yet there is much that surrounds that dot. That dot makes up but one section of a page of writing. Recognise that you are more. Recognise that you have been placed on this physical world in your entirety, your full self, every part of yourself can be used; can be the focus of your attention. You do not need to focus your attention on that one dot. There are many ways, many pathways to allowing your focus of awareness to spread out across the page of understanding. You can allow this to happen in a natural way, you can step out of yourself, you can reach out’

Liz… ‘Is it just habit that keeps us going round in these mental circles of worry and concern over mundane activities and problems. What is it that keeps us going round and round with these familiar thoughts?’

‘It is an internal conditioning, you have much experience, much build-up of experience as you go about your daily tasks, your mundane tasks but at the same time your interest has been sparked, your interest into discovering that greater reality, that greater understanding that surrounds you, that is within your grasp. Having that wanting to explore creates connections with those who are eager to help, eager to assist, eager to share in your discoveries but only you can make that decision to open and expand your awareness and only you can discover how. For the discovery of how to expand your awareness is the key, the key that unlocks your mind from this one narrow focus, this pinpoint of focus, you are encouraged to find it yourself. Always observe each unusual sensation, each unusual feeling that you have. When something happens that makes you think, that makes you question, that makes you question the solidity of a physical world, focus your awareness on this. Appreciate the importance of the subtle inspirations that occur to all on your world for you all are trying to get the attention of your greater self. You and you alone will recognise this. It is very easy to over complicate something which is simple; something which is within your grasp will be pushed away by complications. Keep it simple, keep it real, try not to look for what is not there, try to encourage that what is there to bring itself into your awareness’

Liz… ‘It feels sometimes as if the normal everyday awareness is a very cluttered and restricted and low energy awareness and it feels very difficult to operate more effectively with more energy and more openness. It’s as if a physical fatigue cramps everything and slows it down, makes it feel obscured and limited’

‘You have unlimited power at your disposal’

Liz… ‘Feels like being in possession of a possibly very high fidelity instrument but that it’s only working at a fraction of its real efficiency, its tuning is imperfect, not operating on all cylinders. I suppose one way of looking at it is as if the driver, me being the driver, has been interfering with the controls, fiddling around with limited understanding and has messed it all up somehow’

‘Step out of the driving seat, let go of the controls, take yourself into a new frame of mind, forget the unnecessary irritations in your life’

Liz… ‘This is where the idea of being able to go on retreats seems to be perhaps a very good way of doing this’

‘Think of your life as a retreat, a constant retreat free from all the complications, free from all the distractions. Keep your mind focused on that thought and you will see how you can indeed create for yourself a new reality’

Liz… ‘Can you do that even while you’re engaged in all the normal everyday obligations and tasks?’

‘Indeed you can. Teach yourself to do this, teach yourself to rise above that what causes you to believe that you have complications in your life, that you have disturbances in your life. Think of all of these as opportunities, grasp the opportunities and allow them to help you rise further above the complications of a physical life. There is nothing that can be thrown at you that will prevent you from living a wonderful uncluttered life. Only you will let that what comes to you cause confusion or irritation. The more that you consciously work at this each day of your life the easier it will become. Each time you stop working at this you will sink back down into the familiar, what for you has become the comfortable and the more that you do this that comfortable feeling will move away from the irritations and the complications of life. You will feel yourself rising above, you will feel yourself not allowing the complications to cause you worry for you will see the opportunities presented to you and you will grasp them with a smile upon your face for you will recognise the good in all of this, the love in all of this. Teach yourself to walk tall, walk above the underlying currents with a clear head and a clear mind. Only you can do this, only you can motivate yourself to keep on going, to keep on working but the benefits will be seen as a widening of your awareness’

Liz… ‘It’s almost paradoxical to think of keeping on working at letting go of working. You talked about the two different types of work as if you’re saying to keep vigilant but to let go of attachment’

‘To walk tall is to raise your mind, raise the way you think, raise the way you see, raise the way you interpret each situation. The work involved is in maintaining this, is in holding yourself up’

Liz… ‘I guess you’re saying a certain sort of vigilance, an attentiveness too’

‘As you rise, your attention will be heightened. That way you will see more in each situation, you will see what to reject and what to hold onto. You will see what it is that can drag you down and you will become wise and not allow yourself to be dragged down and the beauty of this is that it will spread out to others, those who you have become friends with will see how your own life can change and they will be attracted to how you are achieving this. They too will be raised up, they will follow your lead, they will want what you have, what you have achieved and they will be inspired to work on themselves in the same way’

Liz… ‘Sounds as if the achievement is equanimity’

‘The achievement is but one more step, one more step towards that what shines bright in the centre of your being’

Liz… ‘Yes there’s a lovely saying that what your saying has brought to mind… that life isn’t about hiding from the storm it’s about learning to dance in the rain’

‘A saying that was inspired for the very same reason that that light which shines within can indeed spread itself and shine throughout each part of each person, each mind, each consciousness. Many have seen, many have made that next step, they have achieved that next step and they have opened themselves up to further inspiration’

Liz… ‘It’s very difficult when one becomes aware even trying to do as you’re saying, how the bad habits and niggles of aversion, irritations, judgments, anger. All these negative emotional responses arise quite easily, one can catch oneself caught up in a situation reacting to it in this limited way. One can be aware of the negativity of this and of the limitations of those sort of responses and yet they’re still there even when being aware that these antithetical responses are not helpful responses to a situation they still arise. I guess the thing is to be aware of them to observe them but not to hold onto them and perhaps that’s the trick to lessen their grip by watching them like you watch clouds dispersing, you see a negative emotion form like a cloud’

‘Recognising that these emotions do indeed exist and can push you in different directions is the first step. Then to observe them in practice as they are brought upon yourself, as you feel yourself in angered situations, in sad situations, recognise these emotions; recognise how to lift yourself from these emotions. It will be a difficulty to all on your side’

Liz… ‘Yes, there’s a tendency to justify them because it’s difficult for somebody who’s on a spiritual path to catch themselves in what is basically a very unspiritual and ungenerous state of mind and the human tendency, I catch myself then trying to justify it by thinking of all the reasons why one should be feeling like that which isn’t helpful because then you get caught up in a story and this is happening all the time so I guess the trick is to recognise quickly that that’s happening and to let go of it’

‘Focus on the present, do not allow yourself to be drawn back to the past for the past remains in the past and you are in the present, you are operating in what for you is the present and your emotion at that time is what…’

Liz… ‘Triggered by memory… association’

‘It is what you are working on at that time. You are lifting yourself out of that emotion, you are recognising that emotion, you are telling yourself that you are in the wrong state of mind and you are teaching yourself how you can free yourself from that state of mind’

Liz… ‘Yes, I guess forgiving oneself is an important component isn’t it’

‘Forgiveness is a very valuable tool’

Liz… ‘To forgive others but also to forgive oneself for the lapses’

‘This is the work that you can undertake; you can work on yourself every moment of every day but see it as a wonderful opportunity. Be thankful for the negative emotions that you will feel, they are helping you to understand that you are more than what you appear to be. There are many circuits that make up your mind, make up the mind that is immersed in the physical world, circuits that spread out, that connect’

Liz… ‘I suppose the next question in my mind is what happens to all of that when you’ve let go of the physical because some of those habits, those thinking habits, must still be there, must carry on or does one just shed them like an old skin and step out as a butterfly?’

‘When you leave, when the physical world is extinguished in your mind you take with you all that you have achieved. You do not shed what…’

Liz… ‘So you take as well the negative habits?’

‘If that is what you have achieved yes. You do not change, you remain the same core energy, there is no difference yet you will…’

Liz… ‘It’s said that… people who talked about the afterlife have said that it is far easier for us to change those bad habits while we are in the physical than it is after we die’

‘The physical world gives more opportunities to work at this yes. Beyond the physical there is less opportunity, there is less concentration of opportunity, there is less structure to work with’

Liz… ‘So in a way the will power which we have in the physical, that focus of intention, is maybe slightly diluted… is that what you’re saying?’

‘The will power remains the same but the structure that the will can work on will fluctuate, will change its form. You yourself will remain intact with all your qualities, all your beliefs, all your fears but in a lighter environment, in an environment where structure is more fluid. You will be unable to work at releasing the fears and the beliefs. You will be given opportunities to return to a more structured environment but it is up to you, up to you to see the advantage or disadvantage of taking on another physical life for there are other opportunities available to you. Opportunities which you in your current state of mind cannot fully understand for you are currently fixed in the framework of your physical world’

Liz… ‘The negative habits that arise in each individual are they merely the arising and constructions from this lifetime or are they the product of many previous lifetimes. Has the soul brought those habits with them, are they echoes from other lives?’

‘The products of previous lifetimes remain with you’

Liz… ‘So emotions like pride or anger or resentment or hatred may actually have echoes from previous lifetimes, they may be etched into the soul’

‘The products of previous lifetimes’

Liz… ‘In which case it would take quite a lot of work and understanding, realisation to release them, to paint them out as it were’

‘You come to this life, this physical life with a page from a book, with possibilities that have been built up from previous lifetimes yet it is up to you to fill in the gaps of these possibilities’

Liz… ‘I can see the value for someone who has maybe been very proud, arrogant, dominant, judgemental in a life to find themselves brought low, humbled, to find themselves in a situation where all that prestige and pride crumbles, where they’re suddenly made to feel very small as if they’re stripped naked and realise that they’re no better or worse than anyone else, maybe even worse. That could be a way of overcoming that conceit or realising how false that self-regard was’

‘The human mind has the ability to recognise in itself the faults that it has built up, the fears that it has built up and when the opportunity to immerse in a physical world is brought to it then preparations are made to assist that mind to be subjected to situations which will help, help that mind to break free of those fears, of those wrong doings, those mistakes. Situations will be set up’

Liz… ‘To help with the beginning of wisdom, I guess that is the beginning of wisdom isn’t it to benefit from those situations and begin to see things as they truly are, warts and all’

‘There is a great pretence that governs your world, a great pretence that is subject to interrogation by the minds of those who have sampled, who have had a taste of many physical lives. They have grown accustomed to the patterns that are presented during a journey through a physical life. They have grown tired of the repetitive situations that are presented time and time again and they have seen the pretence in this and they have been able to uncover the secret, they have seen beyond the pretence, the illusion. They have indeed seen the true reality, the true experience that is happening to all of you. They have taken one layer from that what blinds you. You too will see your life as the great illusion, a form of pretence that covers you all, that keeps you all in order yet it allows you all to walk tall and see the truth. Watch your world, watch your worlds grow and evolve. See how each moment creates a new way of thinking and grasp that new way of thinking, hold it, imagine it, take from it that what drives you, drives you to understand what you truly are. Let go of illusion, take hold of truth but do not forget those around you for your true purpose is to help each other. Your own spiritual awareness will only blossom as a result of the help you can give to others. Think of others, see yourself in others for you are all one consciousness, one mind, one beautiful reality… Thank you my dear friend. We have spoken much this evening. We have opened your eyes and the eyes of many and we wish to continue each week in developing the thoughts of all who inhabit your physical world. All who have the ears to listen and the eyes to see. The work you do here has a great benefit to the world and the worlds beyond. Never forget the importance of your weekly sessions. A light has been turned on and it will continue to illuminate. You sit in darkness yet you are creating illumination throughout your world, throughout your universe, throughout many worlds, worlds within worlds, homes within homes. Create a box and open it, create a song and then sing it, create  a vision and paint it. Do not let go of your imagination and the possibilities that lay ahead. There is much to achieve and much has been done, thank you, take a piece of our love and strengthen the bond of friendship of all who you meet. Liz… ‘Goodnight and God bless you all, thank you’

Liz put the music back on and I was feeling back with it after a couple of minutes.
Liz then did the closing prayer, sent out healing and did our closing down exercise.

There was a crackling sound on the recording which started when the communication began and stopped when the communication finished.
It sounded like static electricity or the scratches on a record being played.
The recorder sits in a pocket on the inside of the cabinet curtain to my left. My knees touch the front of the curtains so it’s possible that my legs that always shake while I’m being controlled caused the recorder to shake in a way that produced the crackling sound but I sit in the same way and with the same setup each week and this is the first time the crackling has come out on the recording…
